Skaters and Parents,

Please check the ice times on the website to view the 2011-2012 ice schedule. Hard copies will be made available at the rink.

New fees apply this year. They are listed below and have been added to the web site as a separate page.

IMPORTANT: All skaters must have a valid USS membership to walk on the ice. We will be asking for verification, so please be prepared. If you have not done so yet, OSA and CH Club memberships are also up for renewal.

Learn-to-skate: $60 for 6 weeks; flat fee, no make-up dates

Mondays: New $10 walk on for all … Sorry, no punch cards available

Thursday and Saturday walk-on: $12 resident and/or CH Club member; $14 non-resident

Punch Cards: $105/9 resident and/or CH Club member; $125/9 non-resident

Thursday, September 15 and/or Thursday, September 22 Cleveland Heights Speedskating is offering  ”Try Before You Buy” Learn-to-Speedskate (LTS) sessions. Coaches and club members will be on hand to introduce you to this fun and exciting sport.  Please arrive between 6:30 and 6:45 for a land discussion and demonstration.

Phone or email registration is required. Please call the rink at (216) 691-7434 or email brosenba@cmnh.org to register.

Arrival time: 6:30 – 6:45:  land discussion, sign-in and equipment check will take place in the oval just across from the rink.

Ice time: 7:30 – 8:15: For safety reasons, no one will be allowed to get on the ice after 7:30 or without attending the land discussion.

Sign up for LTS can take place  that evening or up until the session starts on September 29. Please see “ICE TIMES” page for details.

Regular LTS session runs from Thursday, September 29 through Thursday October 27 for a cost of $60 payable rink-side or at the main registration desk.

Speedskating is open to adults as well as children who are able to stop on regular skates. You can learn with your own skates (figure or hockey) or rental skates will be available rink-side at the time of arrival (included in your fee). It is critical to be prepared with the following safety equipment. Some equipment is available for your use on a first-come-first-served basis*.

  • Skates
  • Helmet (bike helmet is fine)
  • gloves, long sleeves, long pants (no jeans)
  • knee guards (vollyball) *
  • shin guards (soccer)*
  • neck guard (hockey style) *

That’s right. Two dates have been scheduled in August on a Saturday because we are missing August 18 and Thursday’s end August 11. Please plan to attend:

Saturday, August 20: 10:15 – 11:30

Saturday, August 27:  1:15 – 2:30

Sharpen those skates and wash those skins. We have our first summer ice scheduled for this Thursday, July 7th.

Ice is from 6:15 to 7:30. PLEASE arrive by 5:30 to warm up, stretch, gear up and move mats.

Please be sure your USSpeedskating membership is up to date. Everyone renews in July.

Next will be club sign-up and OSA registration. More on that later.

NOTE: This summer we will conduct dry land after ice on Thursdays until 8:45. No exceptions!

Join us for a three-hour ice time to raise money for your skater account. All checks MUST be made out to Ohio Speedskating Association.

For those of you who are not funding your accounts, this is an opportunity to help support our coaching staff (Nicole) by making a donation toward the coach’s travel fund to Nationals!

Please note: Learn-to-skaters are on the ice for the first 30 minutes of the speedskate-a-thon. This is for safety reasons. Please contact coach Nicole with any further questions.

We will be making signs for the mats at rink side so bring your creative side.
